This past weekend we put Papa Jake to rest and held a celebration for his life. ‌ Over the years Papa would tell me, “You know I’m not going to live forever!” with a smile. Whenever I expressed that I don’t know what I will do when that day comes, he would always tell me “Death is apart of life, there is no need to be sad about it”. He wished for not a funeral, but a big celebration with music and dancing. And that is what we did. I hope his words can help others processing a loss. Let’s celebrate Papa Jake now and forever ❤️ -McKaela Papa Jake’s Granddaughter ‌ ‌ I would also like to thank the many people that came together to help put on a celebration that would have had Papa Jake saying “HOLY SMOKES!” ❤️ ‌ Rich Payne Master of Ceremonies ‌ Michael Larson Celebration of Life PowerPoint Presentation ‌ The Flagline was done by the Bay Area Patriot Guard Riders, Henk Zantman, Assistant State Captain. ‌ The Missing Man Formation flyover was one by the Memorial Squadron. Lead Pilot: Justin Shapiro, the Wings: Bruce Poulton, Wolfgang Polak, Martin Traverso, Greg Blank, and Flight Support: Mark Becker. Mission Name: Jake Flight ‌ Additional Tribute flyovers were piloted by Taigh Ramey with co-pilot Sydney Ramey in a Beechcraft D-18S, 2nd aircraft piloted by Jan Johnson in a Stinson L-5. Vintage Aircraft Inc., Stockton Field Aviation Museum ‌ Final Military Honors provided by The United States Volunteers - America CH ( COL ) Leo P. McArdle, US Army, Commanding Officer 31st Regiment ‌ Jim Etherington of 3rd Thursday Veterans Group ‌ Mike Kelly of Guitars for Vets ‌ Beverly Jane performing America the Beautiful and Amazing Grace ‌ Jim Etherington and Mike Kelly performing With a Little Help From My Friends and Don’t Let The Old Man In ‌ #veteran #celebrationoflife #militaryservice #ww2veteran #remembrance
