@japdmedia26: Miami Beach, Florida, USA — The mother of an 11-year-old girl facing a felony charge after a school altercation says her daughter had been bu¦¦ied and that school officials were contacted for help before the incident. The incident occurred at Nautilus Middle School in late September. The confrontation was recorded, and the video shows one student repeatedly striking another before someone intervened. The injured girl reportedly suffered a concussion. Her mother told Local 10, “I was just grateful that she was alive,” and said, “She was struck over 40 times before anybody intervened.” The accused student's mother says her daughter was also struggling with bullying. Defending her child, she said, “She’s not a criminal, she’s a child,” and asked the court to consider what happened before the confrontation. “I wanna tell the judge to please not only see just the video, but what happened before, what led up to that, why did she feel the need to react this way,” she said. “And it’s because my daughter was tired of being harassed and bu¦¦ied.” The mother said she did not condone her daughter's actions but believed the incident could have been prevented. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office initially referred the case for misdemeanor proceedings through a juvenile diversion program. Prosecutors later filed a second-degree felony aggravated battery charge after the injured girl's mother requested prosecution and authorities considered the injuries. School district officials said staff had met with both students before the incident to try to de-escalate the conflict. The injured girl's attorney alleges the school had been warned about an imminent attack. The case highlights serious concerns about school safety, bullying, and how conflicts between students are handled. The bu¦¦ying claims remain part of the competing accounts surrounding the case. #MiamiBeach #Florida #USA #NautilusMiddleSchool #japd
