I understand what you’re saying however, the hiatal hernia basically feels like a life sentence that will potentially get worse, but also restricts very much being able to enjoy social settings and things like that. I have adjusted my diet to a low acid diet and am on my second week thus far. I am aware that it will take time to heal the esophagus of the Gerd, so have told myself try to give it at least three months, but I don’t want to have to stick to a low acid diet the rest of my life and not be able to enjoy having two small children at home and my husband and getting to participate in foods that they are getting to enjoy or an occasional beer or an occasional glass of wine. I was already doing all of the lifestyle changes and had a pretty darn strict diet and then I ended up here. 😔 it’s frustrating, disheartening and has pretty much consumed my brain ever since the diagnosis. I’ve had to throw out all of the pants that I’d enjoyed wearing before when I felt cutie and don’t even look forward to picking out clothes to go to work or out each day. This is not something that I want to live forever or “manage”.
