@theonlycanadianbacon: Replying to @Tracy Henebury Poole I’m glad the system worked for you. Now let’s talk about the people it failed, including my own family.
I can tell you a few stories from the ER here in Canada.

The level of arrogance and denial from the elbows up crew is baffling.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. There are far too many out here in america that think universal health care is the answer.

I’ve seen a TON of videos from people in Canada who have had to come to the US for care because of the care they couldn’t get in Canada

I have waited 9 months for an MRI, then another 11 months for an Ultrasound (the following year) & when they finally called me to book they asked if I still needed to have it done ... 😳WTF !!! My husband has been waiting almost 14 months for a colonoscopy. But yea our health care is just fantastic in Canada 🤔🤔

If you are overall healthy with minor healthcare needs, I would imagine the system works great.

My wife was misdiagnosed. 8 months later they got it right this time and now she was stage 3 breast cancer. She’s now stage four thanks to the original diagnosis of dense breast tissue. They said it was normal and could have removed it by n time. It shouldn’t be called healthcare.

I was in the Emergency last week with an ear infection and waited 14 hrs. Our health care is getting worse every day.

America's health care isnt perfect, no one claims that but neither is Canada's and statistically americans have better health outcomes than Canadians because our health care system is bigger, more reliable, and faster.

I’ve had great care HOWEVER my husband waited 23 months for an emergency MRI. We have a great hospital in our town. Certain tests, procedures, it’s a waiting game; and it shouldn’t be.

Tracey where do live , I’m 66 and hear so many medical horror stories in central British Columbia, my brother inlaw in for a biopsy to check a lump surgeon during surgery decided to remove it and cut through a bundle of veins he bled out and died and then revived went into a coma for 14 days induced out of the coma monitored for one day they decided to transfer to a hospital closer to home, disconnected him, put them in the hallway and that’s where he died , his son died a year earlier diabetic teeth went bad hospital refused to remove teeth because of infection and it will cost so much the community raised the money but still refused and he died so my sister lost a son and her husband in two years because of medical policies , dental isn’t covered under universal health care

I live in southern Ontario. I had a stroke April 30, it took until July 10 to get an MRI @2:40am to show that I had a stroke. I am still waiting to see a specialist. 😡

Canadian living in the US, with family and aging parents still in Canada. with parents facing pretty severe health issues, I've spent the last year thankful that i live in the US, and pissed off that my parents don't. it's been an absolute cluster****! it's taken a year for a full diagnosis of my father, and it doesn't even match his symptoms . . . probably because it took more than 3 months from his first "episode" until his first test.

My Dad had a stroke and was left on a stretcher in a hallway in hospital for 3 days. He was so dehydrated his lips had started to crack. He should have had frequent flyer miles for the amount of times being transfered between hospitals in an ambulance only to find out his procedure had been canceled or postponed. For the amount of taxes Canadians pay towards healthcare, it's a joke. Fine, a small percentage of people have a positive experience, but the vast majority are waiting in emergency up to 12hrs. before being seen, and for every positive experience, there's likely someone leaving emergency because their patience has run out without being treated at all.
