@leokatiecbt: Supporting someone with OCD isn't always about making their anxiety disappear. When a loved one shares an intrusive thought, your first instinct might be to reassure them that everything is okay. But repeated reassurance can unintentionally reinforce the OCD cycle. Although reassurance may provide temporary comfort, it can also encourage the person to seek certainty again whenever another intrusive thought appears. Supporting someone with OCD means showing compassion while learning to set healthy boundaries around compulsions and reassurance seeking. You can acknowledge their distress without answering every fear or helping them perform rituals. Sometimes, the most helpful support isn't providing certainty, but helping someone learn to tolerate uncertainty. #ocd #ocdsupport #ocdawareness #reassuranceseeking #ocdrecovery
