One of my favourite memories of Japan is visiting Aso. The beautiful shrine, the quiet streets, a delicious akaushi donburi in a family restaurant, a hidden cafe in the middle of the forest... All surrounded by the gorgeous mountains. Tourists have no idea what they are missing when they just visit Tokyo and Osaka and call it a day.
