Hydraulic bow and stern thrusters, Naiad stabilisers and a huge electric sunroof on a 16 metre Dutch steel cruiser. This is Inspired, a 2007 Van der Valk Continental 15.50 FR, and her broker rated her one of the most completely equipped examples of the model. Van der Valk has been building steel motor yachts in Waalwijk since 1967, and the Continental 15.50 is one of their best known models. Inspired has a hard chine steel hull with 5mm plate, which gives a steady, predictable motion in the short, confused seas you often meet off the European coast. She has twin Volvo Penta D4 diesels giving her up to 10 knots, stabilisers, which are a rare addition on a boat this size, and a full Raymarine navigation package with software developed just for her. Her 1.45 metre draft and 3.45 metre air draft let her explore the Dutch and Belgian canals and rivers, and below decks she has two cabins, two heads, a cherry wood interior, a restyled saloon, central heating, air conditioning, a washer-dryer and a Quooker tap in the galley. With 2,200 litres of fuel and 1,100 litres of fresh water, she is a seriously well equipped liveaboard motor yacht.
