Um, are we forgetting that European colonizers arrived in the Americas, took Indigenous lands, displaced entire tribes, and forced many Native Americans to abandon their languages, cultures, and spiritual beliefs? Christianity was also imposed on Indigenous communities through colonial systems. Native children were even sent to boarding schools where they were punished for speaking their own languages. So if we’re going to discuss colonization and forced cultural assimilation, let’s discuss ALL of it. Arabization has a complicated history, and its coercive forms deserve criticism, but let’s not pretend European colonization didn’t do the very same things you’re condemning. You can’t condemn the erasure of one Indigenous culture while conveniently ignoring the erasure of another.
