Modern Warfare 4 Beta Switch 2 vs PS5 Pro I thought this was an interesting in-game cutscene for comparison, especially if you pause it to look at stills. There is a clear decrease in resolution, fewer particle effects and a reduction in fire rendering quality. There are even explosions that are taken completely out of the game on Switch 2. On a small screen like a phone, the differences between these two may look small, but in person the Switch 2 looks blurry and low-resolution, coupled with a frame rate that's definitely below 60. I’m pretty sure the Switch 2 targets 30 fps in the campaign and 60 in multiplayer. The PS5 Pro looks clean and crisp while maintaining the target frame rate. If you want to see the differences more clearly, pause the video and look at stills; then it becomes much more apparent. In the second week of the MW4 Beta, the community has been able to play on the Nintendo Switch 2. I thought it would be useful to compare the Switch 2 experience against the PS5 Pro. This isn’t supposed to be a “shit on the Switch 2” video; I’m just showcasing the least powerful vs the most powerful console experience for MW4. I matched all in-game settings across both consoles, but I had HDR enabled on the PS5 Pro, and I’m pretty sure I had HDR off on Switch 2. My Opinion On Both Campaign & Multiplayer The Switch 2 does an admirable job getting the game to run at all, especially in handheld mode, but the visual quality takes a massive hit, and so does the frame rate. At some points in the campaign, the Switch 2 can look alright, but it can also look like a smudgy mess. The same applies to frame rate, which, without any metrics to go on, I’d say targets 30 fps in the campaign. This is just based on my intuition, so don’t quote me on it. As Call of Duty games are usually a locked 60 fps experience nowadays or even higher, having a fluctuating frame rate that's definitely below 60 makes the game feel sluggish and slow to respond. As a result, I wouldn’t recommend the Switch 2 version for those more competitively inclined. If, however, the Switch 2 is the only device you could play the game on, then its just about playable, and fun can still be had with it. #mw4 #switch2 #ps5pro #graphicscomparison
