Tinned Fish Talk 🎣 Seed to Surf Mushroom Snow Crab & Celery Root Smoked Whitefish Mushroom Snow Crab 7.6/10 ⭐ Taste 8️⃣ I quite enjoyed the briny flavor of the seaweed and hint of sweetness from the enoki mushroom. The balance of sweetness and brine is reminiscent of crab. Texture 6️⃣ The enoki mushrooms flake a bit like the muscle fibers in crab and are quite soft. I’m conflicted because they are also hollow, meaning they hold a ton of oil. I don’t prefer that, but this is subjective at the end of the day. Price 9️⃣ At $10-12 this tin is cheaper than crab, and so unique I have nothing else to compare it to. From my perspective, the price is justified by opening up this experience to people in my life who may not be able to consume seafood. Celery Root Smoked Whitefish 8.0/10 ⭐ Taste 7️⃣ I was expecting the vegetal celery-ish freshness of celery root, but was surprised by a deeply savory and mildly sweet flavor. It has umami and almost sea-like flavor of seaweed without any fishiness at all. Wouldn’t associate it with smoked whitefish if it wasn’t on the label, but it’s delicious nonetheless. Texture 8️⃣ There’s absolutely no meat in this, but I would describe the texture as meaty. Meaning it’s firm, a tad springy and substantial. I imagine it would be satisfying in place of whitefish on a bagel or in a salad, maybe even rolled in kimbap. Price 9️⃣ Again, quite a unique product prepared in a method nobody else is applying to vegetables. What’s interesting is the celery root is so different from the mushroom you can absolutely justify trying both. #plantbased #tinnedfish #seedtosurf #veganseafood #tinnedfishtok
