My dad would have fired me also. That’s good parenting

you're a good dad! she will remember this lesson. hard to do but as parents we are called to hold our own children accountable when they mess up. it is a teachable moment.

That was absolutely the right thing to do. We had to terminate a family member due to being late & slacking. He was coached multiple times & it got to the point where it would be nepotism to keep him. We had to let him go.
It had been his first job. This seemed to light a fire under him though. He got another hib within a week and became a great employee. Firing him ended up helping him in the long run. I guess he just needed to be kicked out of the nest. lol!

It stinks you had to make that call, but she has to learn that she will pay the consequences of her decisions throughout her life. It was unfair to you for her to put you in that position

You absolutely did the right thing; enabling her would have been a disaster long term. It sucks you had to do that; but I’m sure she learned in the long run.

I worked under my mom, the GM at a steakhouse during high school. She was harder on me and my sister than she was any of the other employees. Absolutely no playing favorites with us. Looking back. It was the best thing she could’ve done for us.

You were a good parent for not shielding her from the consequences of her actions. Ultimately- better she learn that harsh life lesson from you directly than elsewhere.
