@moji.learnjapanesedaily: Every kanji has two types of readings: on'yomi (the Chinese-based reading, usually used in compound words) and kun'yomi (the native Japanese reading, usually used when the kanji stands alone or has hiragana attached). For example, 水 alone is mizu, but in 水曜日 it becomes sui. Here's the trick most textbooks skip: many kanji are made of a meaning part and a sound part. The sound part is often on the right side, and it tells you the on'yomi. In 晴, the 日 gives the meaning (sun) and 青 gives the sound (sei). That's why 青, 晴, 清, and 精 can all be read "sei" in words like 青年 (seinen), 晴天 (seiten), 清潔 (seiketsu), and 精神 (seishin). It's not 100% reliable, but once you start spotting sound parts, learning new kanji gets so much faster. Perfect for JLPT N5, N4, and N3 study. #learnjapanese #japanesestudy #LanguageLearning #jlpt #kanji
