I wonder if you could load it from bottom to top and pull it out of the bottom instead of lifting it up to put the empty one in the bottom.

I've had a set of these for a year. the tops do get easier with use. personally, I double sided taped it to the side of my nightstand so that it was close but not easy to knock over

these are mine. the whole holder did come as a case, but I cut the top off because it was more functional to me without it.
