I was fortunate enough to grow up without financial hardship, and I’ll never pretend otherwise. But my parents taught me that money represents time, work, and sacrifice, and that just because you can afford something doesn’t mean you should buy it. That’s a lesson that shaped my relationship with money and why I still practice frugal living today. Now, as a mom, I want to teach my children those same values. I don’t believe you have to experience financial hardship to learn financial responsibility. Understanding the value of money and experiencing financial struggle are two different things.
