I've learnt "lifetime" from the manufacturer means just past the expected warranty time. If I car is sold with a 10 year/100k miles warranty then lifetime covers that but if it's 5 year/70k mile warranty then it's only covered for that. When I got my 2016 audi a5 I checked the service intervals for ll major services and the gearbox and diffs had "lifetime" so no change interval but I went ahead and changed the oil to keep it changing gears smooth at 123k miles along with a timing kit etc and now a year later it's done 130k miles and still running strongs/smooth

there was a light bulb out there that is still lit and has never gone out. they can design things to last. they choose not to because it makes them less money. if you don't need a new car because it lasts you till you die, how will the car industry make billions of dollars?

I have a chain as well on my 2013 Crosstrek. just broke 100k miles. good to know it will likely make a noise if there's an issue

Or get a 350 sbc like me and there’s no tensioner. Yes the chain still needs replacing tho at about 115k miles.

my wife's Impala had the chain break because a cam phaser broke and the tensioner broke ..was very lucky it didn't bend a valve..but I fixed that and then the transmission quits pulling a week later 🤣 gotta laugh cause I'm tired of crying
