one good place to stay in Edinburgh isnt actually in Edinburgh, but check out Haven Setons Sands, its super cheap but its a great place, there is direct buses to and from Edinburgh City centre ,about 8 mile drive, there's also nearby train stations ,I went in May and for a midrange caravan is was less than £200 for a week and I'm going back near Christmas for even cheaper .

The last time I stayed in Edinburgh the only place I could find with reasonable rates was a hub by premier inn quite close to the train station. It’s crazy 😅

My Opinion :
Still better then Airbnb where you need to clean up and not have access to to tv or cooking and still paying £200

Ibis South bridge great wee hotel stayed last year and definitely great value for money

We have just stayed at Ibis at Edinburgh Park, perfectly fine. 2,min walk to tram straight to Princess Street.

A lot depends on the time of year as well. If you’re looking at the summer (especially August) or December then the rate are ridiculous. However, just did a search for a Saturday night in January and some city centre hotels are £100 for the night.

I agree the prices are crazy. A hotel I got last year for around £120 mark is now £350 🤣
