⚠️ 𝗞𝗘𝗕𝗔𝗝𝗜𝗞𝗔𝗡 𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗗 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗟𝗨 𝗗𝗜𝗝𝗔𝗚𝗔 I have received consent from the parent to share this information, including her child’s voice recordings, as the matter is deeply concerning. On 27 October, between approximately 8:00 and 8:45 AM, a mother brought her son to school for a Kindergarten 2 (KG2) oral examination. Despite his high fever, she chose not to postpone the examination and waited outside the classroom, where she could hear how the teacher spoke to and handled the children. She explained that she did not intervene because she wanted to observe the situation and did not feel it was her place to interrupt an ongoing lesson. Instead, she recorded the audio and shared three recordings with the KG2 parents. After listening, the parents shared concerns about the way five-year-old children were being treated. The classroom had a large glass panel, and many children could recognise and call out to their friends’ parents. With around 20 children present, taking photos or videos could have drawn attention and disrupted the situation. The mother was also alone, while some teachers were attending to crying children. One particularly concerning incident involved a child who was crying hysterically and had arrived at school alone. The teacher reportedly opened the door harshly, took the child to the nearby KG1 classroom and continued expressing anger while handing the child over to another teacher. Before returning to KG2, he reportedly smiled at the parent and then shouted at the children again. At approximately 1:04 in the audio recording, the teacher could be heard saying: “Inda kamu nampak ni cikgu oral kan untuk kawan kamu? NDA NAMPAK?? HAAAAAAA” After her son completed the examination and returned home, the mother shared all three recordings with the KG2 parents. Some parents later confronted the teacher. By 7:00 PM that evening, parents had received a notice from the school administration stating that the teacher was no longer serving at Nusa Jaya School. Although action was reportedly taken, an important question remains: what about the children’s fear, distress and possible emotional impact? A teacher’s responsibility goes beyond teaching lessons and preparing children for examinations. Children deserve a safe environment where they can learn without being frightened or humiliated. The matter has reportedly been raised with the relevant higher authorities, and the school administration has taken action. The reason for sharing this publicly is not to create unnecessary controversy or replace the proper reporting process. It is to raise awareness among other parents, especially those whose children may be under the care of the same teacher elsewhere. Parents should be aware of concerns that may arise behind closed classroom doors. Action at one school does not automatically address concerns about whether similar behaviour could happen elsewhere. Every child deserves to feel safe in the classroom, and every parent deserves confidence that their child is being treated appropriately. The safety and emotional well-being of young children must never be taken lightly. #KeselamatanKanakKanak #PendidikanAwal #Brunei #seenreal
