@geraldauger: "Spirit of the Medicine was written for children, youth, families and communities who have lost loved ones to suicide, addiction, homelessness, MMIWG2S+, lateral, gang, and domestic violence. Most importantly for those who experiencing a breakdown of the family unit and are seeking hope and healing for their children and community. The elders had said, "The only way as Indigenous people we will rise and heal is to return to our Nehiyawiwin, our 4 Directional Ways of Knowing. Our Nehiyawiwin was demonized by institutions and systems to separate, divide, suppress and repress us as 4 Directional People (Indigenous). My maternal grandparents taught me to always embrace my language, culture and spiritual values and beliefs. Our land-based medicines and ceremonies have healing abilities and qualities for a reason. As a product of intergenerational impact I have "lived experience" from the effects of childhood trauma which led to a troubled youth which resulted to battling demons in my early adulthood which impacted my friendships, relationships and professional life. It was when I began my healing journey, I came to truly understand the effects residential schools had on me. It helped me understand the importantance of finding emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual balance to succeed in life. I learned from the SOTM screenings that intergenerational impact is not an Indigenous issue, it applies to western society. We are all human beings living with PTSD in some form or another, hence the chaos, confusion, mayhem and destruction running rampant in the world. We are all in this together!" 🐦🔥 Healing to the Nations! ❤️ - Gerald Auger, Writer/Director. Now Available for Community Screening Bookings.
