@ifixit.com: Making a phone fold in half? Easy. Making it fold in half thousands of times without falling apart? That's where things get interesting. Here's a closer look at the iPhone Duo's exposed hinge mechanism, where a whole lot of tiny components are doing some very heavy lifting.

iFans goes from " apple late to the game cause they will make the perfect fold" to "its apple 1st foldable so what did you expect others been doing it for years" in maximum warp

Show us the other side where it cracks the screen.

it indeed makes it fold for between 2 and 20 times before it cracks because of that mechanism your holding there

Robert McLaws :

A) it looks like flimsy garbage. B) Microsoft’s would have been a ton better. See: Microsoft Surface hinges.

Bjorn_ :

for apple folding it one time is already a problem.

Shawn_K :

Apple's approach is good. It lowers the plate and allow the display to form a tear drop Shape. But, they might be too ambitious. Let's wait for Hinge V2 in the next duo.

Turns out there are hundreds of cases of the folding mechanism fracturing and piercing the oled panel destroying the entire screen

What I really find fascinating is that it's also fairly drip resistant. Complicates the engineering even more

idk why but that hinge looks like a trap, it looks like gore

this is why samsung skip the stiff hinges
