لغةُ الصمتِ العاري ​"تحتَ ضوءِ قمرٍ شاحبٍ يترنحُ فوقَ سقفِ البابِ الخشبي، لم تكن يدي ترتجفُ من الخوف، بل من ثقلِ خمسين عاماً من الحصارِ العاطفي. دفعتُ البابَ ببطء، ليئنَّ صوتاً كأنه يحكي حكايةَ انتظارٍ طويل. ​لم تكن هناك دهشةُ اللقاءِ الصاخب، بل كان هناك 'استقرارُ الروح'. كانت تقفُ هناك، في فناءٍ صغيرٍ تتوسطهُ شجرةُ رمانٍ تشبهُ أشجارَ بستاني، ملامحُها حفرها الزمنُ كما حفرَ الندوبَ على جسدي، لكنَّ العينين.. آهٍ من العينين، كانت لا تزالُ تحملُ بريقَ 1994، ذلك البريقُ الذي لم تستطعْ كلُّ حروبِ العالمِ أن تطفئَه. ​يقولُ جبران: 'الصمتُ هو صوتُ المحبين في لحظاتِ الوجدِ الكبرى.' وفي تلك اللحظة، كان صمتُنا أبلغَ من كلِّ ما كتبتهُ من رسائل، وأصدقَ من كلِّ ما رويتهُ من قصص. لم أسألها: 'لماذا؟'، ولم تسألني: 'أين كنت؟'. كانت نظرتُنا تتبادلُ خريطةَ الغياب، وتصافحُ جراحَ السنين في سلام. ​في عينيها، قرأتُ قصةَ خريفي الذي لم يكنْ تساقطاً، بل كان 'استعداداً للحصاد'. لم تكن تحتاجُ إلى اعتذارٍ عن زمنٍ ضاع، بل كانت تحتاجُ إلى اعترافٍ بأننا في هذا العمر، لم نعد نبحثُ عن 'بدايةٍ جديدة'، بل عن 'نهايةٍ تليقُ بنا'. ​أمسكتْ يدي.. لم تكن يدَ امرأةٍ رقيقة، بل كانت يدَ محاربةٍ صمدت أمامَ زحفِ الأيام. حينها، سقطَ آخرُ درعٍ كنتُ أرتديه، وتحولَ المحاربُ لأولِ مرةٍ في حياته، إلى مجردِ 'إنسانٍ' يجدُ وطنَهُ في عيونِ من يحب."

Crockpot Cheesy Broccoli Soup Ingredients: 1-2lb bag frozen broccoli florets 1c shredded carrots 1c chopped onion 1-32oz chicken broth 1 small box Veleeta cheese ( 1lb box or 1/2 of the lg box) 1c heavy whipping cream 4oz cream cheese 1c shredded cheddar cheese Pepper Garlic powder. Directions: Place broccoli in crockpot, then carrots and onions. Pour chicken broth on top and sprinkle pepper and garlic powder <-- as much as you like of those. Put the lid on and cook on high for 4 hours ( low for 6-7 hrs) stirring occasionally. Pour in the heavy whipping cream and stir to mix. Cut up the cheeses in chunks and drop in the soup, then put the shredded cheese on top. DO NOT STIR. Put the lid back on for 30 more minutes. THEN STIR WELL.
