You may remember her as the young woman who was abducted after referring to Muhoozi as “Cabbage” and was later released on bail. Well, if anyone thought that experience would silence her, her latest speech suggests otherwise. Addressing the Radical New Bar audience, Aloikin went straight for Muhoozi’s inner circle, calling out figures such as Andrew Mwenda and Balam Barugahara. And when it came to Muhoozi, she kept bringing back the nickname that has become a running joke online: Cabbage! But beneath the mockery was a serious political message. Aloikin challenged Muhoozi directly: if he wants to become president, why not persuade Ugandans with words, ideas and arguments instead of trying to force them into submission? Her argument was simple: leadership is supposed to be earned through persuasion, not fear. And if a leader responds to critics with abductions, torture or killings, rather than answering their criticism, what does that say about the kind of leadership being offered? That was the message behind her repeated use of the word “Cabbage.” She turned the nickname into a political taunt aimed at Muhoozi’s approach to power and his treatment of critics. And here is what makes this story significant: being released on bail has not stopped Aloikin from speaking out. She is back in public, challenging the very people she previously criticised. You can agree with her language or disagree with it. But her central question remains: if someone wants to lead a country, shouldn’t they be prepared to convince its citizens rather than intimidate them? Because a presidency is not won through threats alone. It requires public trust, persuasion and the ability to answer criticism. And Aloikin’s message to Muhoozi was unmistakable: if you want to lead Uganda, convince Ugandans. Don’t try to frighten them into obedience.
