@hilinaikane: over HECO! My electric bill went from $500 to $600, and now it’s over $800?! Our household routine hasn’t changed we’ve been running the AC and using our appliances the same way all year. Crazy!!! -Hawai’i resident

53 solar panels, 3 battery walls, no AC and our bill is over $600! Crazy! Sunrun + HECO are the worst😑

Mine went up ever since they put in those ‘smart’ meters. Went from $200 to $600 a month. But don’t worry, they’re considering another rate hike. Fml

you should always be looking at your kWh usage and not the billed amount. fuel costs fluctuate month to month as well as the # of days in a month. you could be using more electricity than you realize or the cost of fuel goes up which makes your bill higher.

If you're not using certain appliances, lamps, clocks, etc pull the plugs out because it still draws electricity being plugged in. I pull everything out I'm not using except for the fridge, stove, computer, TV. I don't have AC either.

We got a loan interest green loan from HOCU for solar panels and a house battery and we are paying it off with the money we use to send HECO. The state should help owners get rooftop solar because it saves so much money now that the price of electricity is so high and it will only get worse as long as we burn oil for electricity.

Oil and fuel prices directly affect electricity prices as well. We can’t just blame HECO when they have no control over things like that that. Prices for literally EVERYTHING are rising and it’s so sad and unfortunate…

42 panels 3 batteries, you need to watch how you utilize your power. We run AC 90% of the time when there is sun, only wash/dry clothes when the batteries full during the days or on weekends. Family of seven. My bill went from $800 to 40 bucks sometimes as high as 100 if it’s been a rainy month

Mine is under $200. 3 fridges, deep freeze, 4 adults, 3 bed 3 bath house. But we don’t have AC, we have propane hot water, propane dryer, propane stove and oven. All your appliances must be electric. We use about $75 a month in propane and we cook everything from scratch using our oven and stove whenever we want. Your hot water heater is probably your issue. Use tankless and switch to propane. Noting in our home runs on 220v.
