There is a rule that implies that the radius of a circle inscribed in a triangle is equal to the length of one side of the triangle divided by √3, with that information we can set them equal to each other and save some time.

I've been doing the same thing — when a geometry question looks heavy on algebra, I graph it in Desmos first and let the picture tell me what's going on. It saves me from setting up the wrong equation and wasting two minutes. This habit alone is worth practicing.
