I didn’t have a moment, I just woke up one morning, texted 2 of my friends and said I’ll be ready June 30 10am, and they said, we’ll be there!

In hindsight it was when he made it clear he was expecting sex and got annoyed when it didn’t happen. On a family trip with our 1.5 year old, my grandad and my mother.

I was "lucky" enough that my abusive ex was never physically violent so I felt safe enough to just approach him one day and say "we don't make each other happy" and ended it. I don't remember the fight or the events that led to that, only the conclusion, so if there was a moment, it's long gone (this was about 12 years ago)

I went to a shelter. I had awesome counselors at the shelter. I still went back to my abuser because I thought he had changed. But thank God the counselor’s words stuck with me. I left for good after flinching during an argument. I knew he was still dangerous.

I figured he was stressed - with his business, he purchased an older home that although I helped, ultimately the decision was his and I told him that it was his purchase as I was still new in his life and he had to go with his own mind, and then with a baby and me at home... but it kept getting worse, after the first he stopped me from leaving the house after one of his rants, he threatened to kill me if I left him. I took that seriously and told him so, he said it was a joke, but his tone and the way it was out of the blue made me take note - not leave. The second time he threatened to kille if I left was in front of a friend at the dinner table, again said in an otherwise very casual environment. I paid more attention, and he got mad that I was paying attention and speaking up about how uncomfortable I was with his behavior and threats. The final straw was a night the same as any other that started with his routine ranting about work, clients, and various government agencies or conspiracy theory, moaning in pain continuously on and off for hours. I thought he had some kind of mental health emergency, but if I called paramedics or police I thought it would escalate. So I blocked my child's door with furniture, texted my trusted cousin what was going on, and nursed my baby to sleep while my ex continued to rant loudly and moan and until I could hear him snoring for an hour, then I slept. The next morning my ex woke me by banging the door into the furniture blockade, and in a sleepy moment I just moved the furniture and let him in. He glared at me with his steel blue eyes and with gritted teeth asked me why the door was blocked. I told him he scared me, and he said I should be scared, then kissed our sleeping kid and said don't worry I'll protect you from your mom essentially. he left for work, I started throwing my clothes into my vehicle, jammed it full as much as I could thinking I would be away for a couple weeks or more. I didn't think I would be gone forever. A few days later I returned for more of my belongings, wanting to make sure he couldn't break my things while I was away, and get my cat another couple days later still - i thought I would be back.

I had a moment and once I decided to leave my ex-husband could tell and his behavior did a 180 and he tried to do everything he could to "make it right" but at that point I was 100% done

This. I was convinced that it had to be him saying he was done because any time I said I was done he would pull me back in. The cycle was exhausting yet I still waited and I jumped on the moment when he text saying he was done.

I didn’t realise a moment til a month after the break up, not the only moment but still. After the last few years and especially the last year where my ex was saying he took accountability and understood the pain he caused me, he was showing some progress kinda but like then when we were talking about the past he said he did not mistreat me, and that just HIT me when I remembered it weeks later, like so you really didn’t take accountability cause how the hell can you say you did not mistreat me but take accountability for mistreating me?

I took the abuse and manipulation, until he bowed up at my mother while I was at work. And he and members of his family have created additional TikTok accounts to still access my account(which I blocked!) even after being gone for 4+years.
