The UK Government and local councils need to get off their backsides, walk through our city centres and OPEN THEIR EYES! Empty shops, boarded-up restaurants, closed pubs and abandoned premises everywhere. How much more destruction will it take before they wake up? Food costs are soaring, taxes and employment costs keep rising, customers have less money to spend, and our turnover is falling. We're being forced to sack hardworking staff, not to increase profits, but simply to avoid bankruptcy! We are no longer trying to thrive. WE ARE FIGHTING TO SURVIVE! And the sheer economic stupidity is breathtaking. A bankrupt business pays no taxes, employs nobody and contributes nothing to the economy. STOP PREACHING ABOUT ECONOMIC GROWTH WHILE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE BUSINESSES THAT CREATE IT TO SURVIVE! You cannot keep bleeding businesses dry and then act shocked when our high streets become graveyards of empty premises!
