As a girlie that worked in the craft beer word for a long time, my understanding is this… Women originally brewed the beer. They had cats to keep the vermin away from the grains etc. The men decided they didn’t want women to control that much of the economy, so they accused them of witchcraft and burned some at the stake. I’m not sure if her story is the same, but it certainly sounds like it.
