@cbsmiami: A Miami Beach man is facing animal cruelty charges after police rescued 19 dogs, including four puppies, from deplorable living conditions at a home on Tuesday. Officers responding to a welfare check on an elderly woman found severely unsanitary conditions, with the puppies discovered in an uncovered cooler contaminated with feces and urine. Miami-Dade Animal Services removed all the dogs and transported them for veterinary evaluation and medical care. Police identified the suspect as 50-year-old Jorge Morillo, who investigators said lived at the residence intermittently for about five years and was responsible for the dogs. He was arrested on one count of animal cruelty but denied living at the home and denied the dogs were his after being released from jail Wednesday. The elderly woman was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center for evaluation, and the home was deemed unsafe for occupancy and ordered vacated.
