@browneyedgurl801: Aurora Sky Castner was born inside the Galveston County Jail, where her mother was serving time. Days later, her father, who has bipolar disorder, picked her up from the facility and raised her alone in Conroe, Texas. On May 25, 2023, Castner graduated third in her class at Conroe High School, summa cum laude. She had set her sights on Harvard University since elementary school. Her admissions essay opened with a single line: “I was born in prison.” Castner credits much of her path to her mentor, Mona Hamby, whom she met through a community mentoring program at her school. Hamby recalled first learning about her through a note from school staff. “I thought this sounds like a bright little girl,” Hamby told the Houston Chronicle. “I still have that paper today.” Hamby and her husband later took Castner to tour Harvard’s campus in March 2022, a trip that cemented her decision to apply. She was accepted through early action and awarded a full scholarship. Castner has said her mother has had almost no role in her life, recalling she spoke to her only once, at age 14. Reflecting on the contrast between her upbringing and the guidance Hamby gave her, Castner said, “It was a very different environment than I grew up in and that’s not a bad thing.” She plans to study law at Harvard, continuing a journey that began behind bars and was shaped by a single father’s determination and a mentor who refused to let one lunch a week be enough.

I absolutely love this you can do this. My sister was a teacher. she did it for 1 yr. She just retired as a district court judge. Her oldest daughter will graduate next spring from law school and has a job when she's done paying her $16,000.00 a month. You can do this!
