Tell us your habit and why 👇 A burned hand keeps swelling for hours as the tiny blood vessels leak fluid (MedlinePlus). A ring can't stretch, so it squeezes the finger and less blood reaches the tip. What to do: run cool (not icy) water over the burn at once, slide rings and watches off while it runs, before any swelling (American Burn Association, Red Cross), and keep cooling, ideally 20 minutes. Never force a stuck ring: a numb, pale or blue finger needs help now. A hand burn that blisters needs a doctor (MedlinePlus). In a study of 2,495 children, 20 minutes of cool running water was linked to lower odds of needing a skin graft (Annals of Emergency Medicine, 2020). If you burn yourself, please use lukewarm water, never cold or even ice cold Water! Your skin, that’s usually responsible for thermoregulation is damaged so the cold will constrict your blood vessels without the skin to protect them which can worsen the injury. Hypothermia is also a risk. Be safe, y’all ❤️

I had no idea burns make you puffy, i remember I burnt my hand very awfully from hot noodle soup to the point where i had a fat blister that popped into a very large open wound. My hand was so puffy and soft and tender, i thought it was just my eyes fooling me but I didn’t know burns can release fluid

It is even better to hold lukewarm water just above the burned area, so that the water flows over it rather than landing directly onto the burn.

I burnt my finger on an industrial oven, my teacher didn’t let me go home, I was In agony and everyone made fun of me. When I got home I had to sleep with my hand wrapped in a cold ice cloth and occasionally ice water 😭
