As a fellow engineer, no it’s not unethical. Go get that bag 💰

there's nothing wrong with ensuring Britain stays a viable power in today's world. if we aren't preparing in peacetime we will never be ready when war comes

You aren't gonna decide what they do with what you make tbh. Keep that in mind.

"defense" doesn't exist seriously, it is all just arms. defensive research gets retooled and tweaked into offensive ones all the time. assuming you're in the United States you're a citizen of one of the single bloodiest empires of all time. Even if you disagree, look at who we ally with in the middle east -- that's who our weapons often get sold to.

Just depends on which war you have an opinion about.
Ukraine you're good.
Iran you're bad.

big distinction between private and governmental/national defense. private is the worst kind, national still can be excused in some areas

It’s the iron dome paradox, defensive weapons are still used offensively. As well as being further the edge to be offensive

your work for defense will be used for offense indirectly. you cannot escape your work being used for wrong when it comes to militarial purposes.

I’ve have mechanical engineering friends leave defense for ethical reasons and i have friends who still work in defense. I think at the end of the day we all have a salary in mind that will make us overcome our morals to a certain extent. But respect to my friends who stood by their morals and decided to leave, but no shade to you if you want to work for Raytheon or Lockheed 🤷🏽♂️

just trust me :
I mean aslong as you dont mind someone pregnant being blown up with their baby just all over everywhere cus its defense then calm ig its just depends if your capable of knowing what your building i know quite alot of people who work with the mod etc for drones etc,end of the day calling it defense is just a cope mechanism rather than it being really defense end of the day it will be used in combat if you can mentally bear it,by all means go ahead but in uk it still pays shit

There is no creating defense without allowing more offence. Your defensive technologies will be repurposed for offense, and even if they are not, they allow us to do whatever we want to anyone with no repercussions. You do not need such a strong defense if you are not so offensive.

I don’t think so but then again there’s your not the one who decides how your weapons are used. In that scenario I couldn’t live with the guilt but that’s just me 🙏
