We had a dog who had "bad luck" medically. He was paralyzed, a heart condition, Cushings, Frequent UTIs, Occasional/random anxiety attacks, eye problems, and random little stuff that would just pop up (Like a cyst on the side of his face one time). He was doing great with medicine, but a couple years ago, he gave us a big scare and almost died. He was losing consciousness and his gums were pale. Apparently he was losing oxygen bc his heart condition progressed + other bad stuff at once. With a day of treatment at the vet, he was okay and back to normal. However, the vet also told us he was about to go into kidney failure. Yet, he lived the last couple years with no problems, until he woke up one day and told us he was ready. He wasn't eating or drinking, weak, & restless (For the first day, then slept all the time). Looking into his eyes, he was tired and ready to go. Vet said he was a very sick boy and was now in kidney failure. We said our goodbyes and our vet did her best to not cry while saying kind and comforting things to us (Like how we did a great job with him and he looked so peaceful now). Animals are resilient and age doesn't matter. If they are ready to go, they will tell you. Our boy had a lot against him, and never let it stop him, until he was ready. Finn got this!
