I was a lunch monitor years ago and I was not CPR trained. I was alone with 300 kids in the cafeteria. A student was choking and I did the heimlech on him even though I didn’t know how to do it properly. I carried him to the nurse and he spit out the food before as we got there. I am so sorry those teachers didn’t atleast try! It breaks my heart how they were nonchalant

I worked at a daycare for almost 9 years. We are REQUIRED to be cpr/first aide certified. Can’t even tell you how many back blows I did on infants over the years. Anyone working with kids should be trained.

That is so tragic. I did perform the Heimlich maneuver once on a student while on cafeteria duty as a Texas teacher. I was not even thanked by the parents.
