Candy tax is 1) from your own kids, maybe nieces and nephews, not a neighbors kids, 2) IT’S NOT HALF THE DAMN HAUL! If you’re gonna do it in that situation, ONE BAG would be a candy tax.

I... candy tax is supposed to be like 1 or 2 pieces of candy from your own kids/nieces or nephews you're babysitting, and you're not supposed to take their favorites either. 😭 It's just supposed to be a teasing way to ask them to share a piece or two. You're not supposed to take HALF of someone else's kids' candy. That's so greedy! Go buy your own!

I will admit I instill a “teacher tax” when my students bring goodies into my classroom, but it’s ONE thing of candy from ANY of the kids. I teach at a colony and they go home to get snack and will bring me some so I started calling it the teacher tax. 🤣)
