@uleijj: A 7 year old girl died in a crash near Delmar, Maryland, and her mother is charged. WBOC reports the crash happened September 16 on Norris Twilley Road. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office said at the time that a car left the road and overturned several times, and a passenger was thrown from it and died at the scene. The driver and another passenger weren't seriously hurt. Charging documents say Kelly Elliott, 42, of Delmar was driving, with her daughters, ages 7 and 11, in the back seat. They say neither girl wore a seat belt and the 7 year old wasn't in a child safety seat as Maryland law requires. A witness told police Elliott had engaged in road rage behavior and sped up before the curve. Police say she showed signs of impairment, her blood alcohol was .18, and she admitted drinking two shots of whiskey and smoking marijuana that day. She's charged with criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle, homicide by motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, and a third felony for causing a death while driving negligently or under the influence, along with traffic violations. She was arrested Wednesday, October 28, and is held without bond. A preliminary hearing is set for November 19. These are charges, not convictions.
