Funny story: when I was breastfeeding my eldest I once had women cross my lawn to peep in my window to see me breastfeed. They then proceeded to give me dirty looks and complain to the town that I was “exposing myself” when I was sitting on my couch in my living room. You couldn’t see anything unless you physically walked up and pushed your face against the glass. The town laughed in their faces

My boyfriend moms came during her shift at the hospital less then 30minutes after I gave birth🥲 I wanted to cry. For my second I said: NOBODY could come. Was perfect

his family would text or call me to ask about visiting. their reasoning was 1. I communicate faster 2. im the one breastfeeding. I honestly didnt care as long as we were home. if baby was napping we just sat and talked. they also stopped by when we got home from the hospital with food and my MIL helped me unpack the baby bag while FIL and husband got like a week worth of meals into the freezer.(yes this was pre-planned they didnt just drop by), my parents stopped by the next day with more food. didnt have to cook for a couple weeks and everything was in foil pans so no dishes.

When I was just days out of the hospital after having my second child and second c-section, I had 28 staples and pain in my back from the epidural. I had to pump because my daughter would latch beautifully, but would not wake up to nurse or nurse while sleeping and her glucose started to drop dangerously in the hospital (she would take a bottle while sleeping) so it was the middle of July, hot af and I was sitting on my living room floor in the AC and pumping when my s/o's aunt just walked in through the sliding glass door unannounced while I was completely topless. I went to twist to the side to cover myself and ended up with a shooting pain from the site of the spinal tap up to the base of my skull. Immediately burst into tears from the pain (I'm not a crier, so it was bad bad) and the whole situation set off a bit of post partum rage and I screamed "GET TF OUT!!" and even my boyfriend went with her 😭 I ended up stuck on the floor until I could get near something to pull myself up with because of the c section pain and the staples feeling like they were pinching, plus the back pain. Its been over 14 years now and I still remember that day clearly. People need to normalize not showing up unannounced to visit mom and baby.

not quite the same thing, but I was being induced and it was a long process. they sent me home. we were also sent to a specific kids hospital for it. my dad showed up unannounced to the hospital and we were at home. we also stated we didn't want visitors.
