@life.lately.with.jen: At 29 years old, with a 2-month-old baby and 3 year old little girl at home, I heard the words no one ever wants to hear: “You have breast cancer.” My story actually started with my dad’s pancreatic cancer diagnosis and discovering that he carried the BRCA1 mutation. That one piece of information changed the course of my life. Ten years, chemotherapy, and multiple surgeries later, I’m here to share my story. ❤️ Breast cancer isn’t always pink ribbons and pretty bows. Sometimes it’s fear, scars, and fighting battles you never imagined you’d face. The Prophet ﷺ said: إِذَا مَاتَ الْإِنْسَانُ انْقَطَعَ عَنْهُ عَمَلُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ ثَلَاثَةٍ: إِلَّا مِنْ صَدَقَةٍ جَارِيَةٍ، أَوْ عِلْمٍ يُنْتَفَعُ بِهِ، أَوْ وَلَدٍ صَالِحٍ يَدْعُو لَهُ "When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: an ongoing charity, knowledge that benefits, or a righteous child who prays for him." — Sahih Muslim 1631 And Allah says: إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِي الْمَوْتَىٰ وَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَدَّمُوا وَآثَارَهُمْ ۚ وَكُلَّ شَيْءٍ أَحْصَيْنَاهُ فِي إِمَامٍ مُّبِينٍ "It is certainly We Who resurrect the dead, and write what they send forth and what they leave behind. Everything is listed by Us in a perfect Record." (Qur'an 36:12) A well. One surah you teach. A child you raise to remember you after every prayer.
