Also "ao3 being down isn't the worst thing that's globally happened." I genuinely saw someone compare this to 9/11 😭

First of all books are not cheap second of all how the hell am I gonna get to a library? If the nearest one is 30 minutes away from me be for real I’m not paying to read nothing. I have other bills to pay that are way more important than reading actual books.

there's a difference between reading a story about characters and settings and worldbuilding you already know and are familiar with vs starting a new thing.

"Books are inaccessible." no they're not... there's libraries, audiobooks on YouTube, Spotify and Apple, go to a book store with a friend they'll let you read there.. books being inaccessible is SUCH a bs excuse I'm sorry there's millions of ways to find a way to read a book

This would be like telling someone to watch Netflix because YouTube isn’t working. Like are both important? yes! But is the enjoyment that I get from them the same? absolutely not! As someone who loves reading books I find it so aggravating when someone acts like fan-fiction reading is the same experience. Unless you’re reading long form fanfic it’s really not.

ngl opportunity to binge shows/books and once the site is back up you just go on a spree of finding fanfics for that show/book 😭
