Why do you have to make people feel like hostages simply because you once helped them? Must someone remain indebted to you forever just because you extended a helping hand? Just because someone you helped makes a mistake or slightly offends you, does that give you the right to withdraw what you have already given them or make them regret ever receiving your kindness? Think about Almighty Allah, the Owner of the heavens and the earth. How many times have we disobeyed His commandments, committed countless wrongs and fallen short of His expectations? Yet, He continues to sustain us, provide for us and allow us to live on the very earth He created. He does not withdraw His blessings every time we offend Him. So, why should you, as a mere human being, send away a friend you willingly accommodated in your home simply because they offended you? You must understand that if you refuse to help someone despite having the means to do so, there are thousands of other people who can help that same person, perhaps even better than you can. Never allow the little assistance you render to others to become a tool for controlling, humiliating or emotionally manipulating them. Whatever you possess today is a blessing from Almighty Allah, not merely the product of your own efforts. You are only a channel through which His favour reaches others.
