@ashas_farm_sanctuary: Watching Lou Bear walk back into the special needs area always tugs at my heart. For a while now, he’s been spending time out in the larger pastures, trying so hard to fit in with the older steers. But the truth is, they still reject him. It can get so lonely out there for him, especially when his sheep friends decide to head inside early and leave him on his own. You can see how badly he wants to belong, but at this stage in his life, bonding with that stronger herd just isn't meant to be. So, he comes back home—back to the ones who truly know him and welcome him with open arms. He returns to share his day with Darsha, a beautiful blind cow; his loyal sheep friends; and Leo, an older, wiser steer. Lately, Lou Bear has been challenging Leo, but Leo is incredibly patient. He knows Lou Bear is still young, testing boundaries, and trying to find his place in the hierarchy. Lou Bear has gotten so incredibly big. I look at him and can’t believe how much he has grown, and he still has so much more growing to do. More than anything, I love just holding him close, letting him know how proud I am of him and how deeply he is loved. Animals are just like children; there is absolutely no difference in their emotions. They feel the sting of rejection, and they feel the warmth of love. Just like Lou Bear, so many of us spend time trying to force our way into spaces where we aren't accepted, feeling the sting of loneliness when we don't quite fit in. But God’s love doesn't require us to prove our worth to the cliques of the world. He welcomes us just as we are.
