I’m a Black American and you’re a 100 percent right! Ppl will say, “ it’s just jokes everybody got clowned on”. The fact that so many of our ppl have normalize this behavior is what’s even more sickening.

my mom's black American and my dad's Ghanaian despite being able to culturally, relate and understand the internalized hatred I received when I was a child. It still had a monumental effect on me to this day. I just hate the gaslighting that happens to African kids who are usually the first to come to their school when they're a child and they become the scapegoat and the punching bag for people's shame and hatred for their blackness.

I’m 33 and I still remember how kids bullied the one African boy in my class he barely learning English. this was 5th grade!!. Mind u most of the class was black kids and yes it was only the black kids bullying him. and I got bullied as well for being the new kid I still remember this was 05-06. I can’t imagine how bad it is for kids these day smh.

RIP, Javits Frimpong. 💔 My heart is incredibly heavy. No child should ever lose their life, especially someone who was simply walking to school, unaware of the tragedy that awaited him. I genuinely believe bullying should be taken far more seriously, and there should be real consequences for those who target others. Bullying someone simply because they are African, because of their background, or because they are an immigrant is absolutely unacceptable. What's wrong with being African? What's wrong with being an immigrant? There is nothing wrong with embracing where you come from. No one should ever have to feel ashamed, unsafe, or less worthy because of their identity. Being an immigrant and navigating school in a place where you feel different is not for the weak. This hits incredibly close to home for me. I know how painful it can be to feel targeted for something you should never have to defend. We need to do better as a society. No child should have to fear going to school. No child should lose their life because of hate, ignorance, or bullying. May Javits rest in peace, and may his family find strength during this unimaginable time. 🕊️

When I was in college , an African immigrant who had moved to the Bronx when he was 13 literally gave me a hug becuase I was nice to him . He said ever since he moved to America the Latino and black kids used to beat the shit out of him.
