@factinmotion: Original Video Credit: IG/prodivingservicesfl Deep underwater, an opening in a submerged structure can appear completely harmless. Yet when water on opposite sides is under different pressures, the resulting flow can become extremely dangerous. Even experienced commercial divers may struggle to recognize the hazard before being pulled toward an opening and pinned against it. Known as differential pressure, or Delta P, this phenomenon occurs when a pressure difference drives water through an opening or between connected spaces. The force exerted on an obstruction depends on the pressure difference and the area exposed. Even a relatively small pressure difference acting across a large surface can generate thousands of pounds of force, making it impossible for a trapped diver to pull free without eliminating the pressure imbalance. Delta P is a serious concern during underwater inspections, dam maintenance, pipeline repairs, and work around vessel intakes or discharge systems. Unlike strong currents that may be visible through moving debris or disturbed sediment, dangerous pressure differences can exist with few obvious warning signs. Commercial diving safety procedures therefore emphasize identifying potential pressure sources, isolating connected systems, and verifying safe conditions before anyone enters the water. #shorts #Science #education #learn #invention

What’s scary about delta P is that, unlike a vacuum, there is no limit to how large the delta can be.

Why do people keep saying “delta P” like it’s a battleship 😭 Yall delta p just means change in pressure. You could just say pressure differential. This is scientific cringe I swear.

I work with delta p when testing valves at work. Today I tested a unit at 1682 PSI at proof test. If it failed, people down the street would feel it and im 2 feet away during test. Fun stuff👌
