Beautifully said. For me it was the same. He was a guiding father figure for me as a kid with emotionally absent parents. His portrayal of Picard made me interested ins science, sci fi and teacher me kindness and an humanitarian outlook on the world. Without him bringing this role to life with the gravitas that seemed so easy for Sir Patrick Stewart, Gene Roddenberry’s vision would have never had the impact it did.
