@rah_inactive: HTTD: How’s In-fa Doing? UPDATE 2 - Major Typhoon In-fa: So, Typhoon In-fa has been doing decently during the time since our last update less than 4 days ago, in which the storm’s intensity has been fluctuating between Categories 3 and 4 after it completed its first eyewall replacement cycle, leading to the storm also obtaining super typhoon status on two separate occasions. In-fa has started to weaken once again from super typhoon status after strengthening slightly to a second peak of the same intensity: 150mph (~240kph), after initially reaching super typhoon status for the first time 42 hours ago. In-fa is expected to continue weakening slowly throughout the period that it passes through the Northern Mariana Islands. As of this moment, Typhoon In-fa currently has maximum sustained winds of up to 145mph (~235kph) with an estimated central air pressure of 948mb, moving west-northwest at an estimated speed of 24mph. In-fa currently stands around 215 miles (~345km) north-northeast from the island of Saipan, where the JTWC projects the storm to stay within a similar distance over the next 24 hours. During that time, In-fa is expected to continue weakening slowly, in which the agency forecasts the storm to weaken down to a Category 3 major typhoon by early Sunday (Zulu). In-fa is also projected to begin curving more northwards by mid-Friday tomorrow (Zulu), where it initially moves north, then appears to stall and eventually curves to the west-southwest due to multiple subtropical ridges moving across Japan, weakening below major typhoon intensity in the process. Forecasting models are having trouble, unsurprisingly, with the potential track of Typhoon In-fa over the next week; however, most models are predicting some sort of ‘^’ shaped curve occurring during the 36-hour mark. Afterwards, uncertainty starts to grow significantly on how far west In-fa will go before shifting again towards the northeast. Despite this, models are confident with the current 48-hour forecast of the JTWC, with rainfall over the Southern Marianas being relatively minor, below a quarter-inch (~6mm). Future updates coming soon! #fyp #infa #typhooninfa #typhoon #update

For those who have seen the original 2nd update about 18 hours ago, that has been removed due to fatal errors within our analysis, so it has been replaced with this revision. A 3rd update might come tomorrow, so stay tuned!
