A word of advice. Take them before about 5pm. After that, residents start to sundown and it can be scary for little kids.

I was a C.N.A. for 25 years and I can tell you, they love this! They love to help decorate, get the candy ready and when they see the little ones, they light up! I hope more parents consider this!❤️🎃🦇

I’m visiting three different ones today. I know they love seeing all the kids get excited about the candy and seeing the different costumes 💕

I work at one and promise it made their day. We had two groups, AL and memory care. One of my favorite residents who can’t speak much in mc spoke her first completely legible sentence in months because of this. She said “look at all those little kids, how delightful” I was so shocked and she was able to give out candy after, something I never expected.

If the rain gets bad I think all the parents should just drive too all the homes and do this so they’re babies can still trick or treat safely

I’d love to take my 17month old as he absolutely LOVES people and I know they’d love him but I’m so so worried he’d get ill and I don’t mean that in a horrible way!

I trick or treated until I was 16 years old. One year when I was 14 I think? My friends and I went to the nursing home. There were literally no other trick or treaters anywhere to be seen. Full candy bowls, the GOOD candy too!! And not a kid in sight. We hung out for a good half hour maybe forty five minutes. The residents seemed so excited and asked so many questions about our costumes and where we go to school, how old we were and what we were interested in. They were just happy someone came ❤️🩹

I decided to avoid the nursing homes this year bc my son is getting over a bug and I really don’t wanna risk the elderly getting sick and getting way worse than my toddler. There’s always next year

This sounds like such a good idea..BUT we took our kids to one last year. Two of my three kids got yelled at by a resident and my oldest freaked out/panicked because one lady 1,000% looked deceased with a bowl on her lap😬😂 She was asleep (I think) but he wasn’t wrong in his thoughts😂

As a nurse please do take your children trick or treating to every single Nursing Home. They buy candy for all of the residents to hand out and this makes them so happy to give to children. You’ll leave feeling blessed. 🙏🙏🙏
