I think Eddie is skipping to the end. Yes, kids need structure and boundaries but Buck also needs time to evaluate the situation and build trust so he can put in the proper structure in place. Theo only met Buck a few months ago- it’s a process. He wasn’t listening to his actual parents! Now more trauma later were expecting miracles.

I do think the volcano thing could help but with talking about it too. Like I just can’t see Buck creating a tsunami for Chris without talking about it first. Which I believe Eddie did before taking him to the water again. Different because Theo wasn’t in danger I know but Theo was still scared and some words about how it’s ok to be scared added to the play would have been good. Hope you get what I mean, I’m bad with words 😂 I don’t think Buck is wrong just not seeing the bigger picture which I think will come to a head later.

Also I will add that Eddie is coming at it from the prospective of being Christopher's father, Christopher and Theo are totally different kids and they will handle these situations differently, so the way Eddie might approach talking to Christopher about something will be different from the way Buck might approach talking with Theo. A 4 year old Christopher probably processed things differently than Theo at the same age.

But also buck doesn’t feel like he is theo’s father! maybe even feels guilty to think of himself as one. That’s why he sees himself as a friend not as a father BUT eddie sees him as theo’s dad!!.. buck is treating theo like buck treats chris .. like a friend he only plays with him and makes him feel comfortable he never took the role of chris’s father .. in order for buck to see things from eddie perspective he has to see himself as theo’s father first. When he finally does, he will understand eddie’s point of view.
