I was bullied here in America because of my accent. Mind you, I lived in Britain prior to coming to America. How much more a kid. A kid said I said abnormaliTy instead of pronouncing abnormalidy like they do and she started laughing. I reported to the lecturer but nothing was done

Omg 😢🥺 This is so heartbreaking and sad. Honestly, I never fully understood what racism was until I moved to America from Jamaica 🇯🇲. I experienced bullying in elementary school for my accent, which was something I had never experienced before. Thankfully, the area and school I attended weren’t nearly as dangerous as some of the schools in the Bronx. It’s sad to see what some of these children have to go through. Smh. My Condolences 💐

If you don’t report bullying, the bullying will continue, they will never stop until there’s consequences. It’s difficult for especially young boys from Africa at middle and High school level in America.

RIP, Javits Frimpong. 💔 My heart is incredibly heavy. No child should ever lose their life, especially someone who was simply walking to school, unaware of the tragedy that awaited him. I genuinely believe bullying should be taken far more seriously, and there should be real consequences for those who target others. Bullying someone simply because they are African, because of their background, or because they are an immigrant is absolutely unacceptable. What's wrong with being African? What's wrong with being an immigrant? There is nothing wrong with embracing where you come from. No one should ever have to feel ashamed, unsafe, or less worthy because of their identity. Being an immigrant and navigating school in a place where you feel different is not for the weak. This hits incredibly close to home for me. I know how painful it can be to feel targeted for something you should never have to defend. We need to do better as a society. No child should have to fear going to school. No child should lose their life because of hate, ignorance, or bullying. May Javits rest in peace, and may his family find strength during this unimaginable time. 🕊️
