New York City has officially cancelled a controversial $225 million public safety training project known as “Cop City.” 🏙️ Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirmed that his administration has stopped plans for the proposed academy in College Point, Queens. The project was originally intended to bring training facilities for multiple law enforcement agencies together in one location. Former Mayor Eric Adams supported the expanded plan, while critics questioned its cost and purpose. Mamdani had opposed the proposal during his mayoral campaign and has now followed through on that promise. The decision means New York will not build the previously proposed unified academy. 💰 📌 Sources: City & State New York, October 29, 2026. NYC Mayor’s Office. - @konah619
