If you watch the pods he wasn’t into her then, she was so excited to tell him that the person he was more interested in left, and she was a pick me girl. She kept telling him how much she liked him and how they were meant for each other but he never said those things back to her. His proposal was a crapshoot, he wanted to see if she was attractive and when he saw her it was an instant no. He’s just been going along with it so he doesn’t come off as a bad guy
