One of the hardest parts of recovery has been learning how to let people take care of me. 🤍 I grew up believing that my problems were mine to deal with, that I needed to figure things out on my own, and that being vulnerable was something to avoid. So for a long time, keeping everything to myself became second nature. But recovery has been teaching me that healing isn’t just about learning how to nourish my body. It’s also about learning how to trust people, communicate when I’m struggling, and let others show up for me in ways I never really knew how to accept. Recently, something as simple as allowing my nurse to help treat my pressure wound made me realize just how much I’ve grown. It felt uncomfortable and deeply vulnerable, but I let her care for me anyway. And that moment meant so much more to me than I think I can fully explain. I’m still learning. I’m still working toward accepting help with things that feel incredibly personal, and I’m still learning how to surrender some of my independence while my body needs more care than I can give it alone. I’m also incredibly grateful to have a care team that is patient with me through this process. Especially my nurse, who continues to meet me with so much kindness in some of my hardest moments. 🤍 She gives me the space to work through my discomfort while reminding me that I don’t have to do everything on my own. I don’t think she realizes how much that means to someone who has spent so much of her life learning not to need anybody. 🤍 #MentalHealthAwareness #mentalhealthtiktoks #vulnerability #vulnerabilityisstrength #healingjourney💜
