@songs_that_take_us_back: by the English rock band The Animals is a groundbreaking 1964 blues-rock hit. Originally a traditional American folk song rooted in Appalachian traditions, The Animals rearranged it with a haunting electric keyboard style and frontman Eric Burdon's gritty, powerful vocals. It skyrocketed to Number 1 on both the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100, making history as the "first folk rock hit". #thehouseoftherisingsun #theanimals
